Horacio Zeballos (ARG) def. Maxime Teixeira (FRA) 6:3 6:4

It wasn’t a very spectacular match. Teixeira tried to give his best, but at the moment his best is far away from a decent challenger level. Zeballos didn’t really fight. He just raised his level when he had to and saved some energy. Pete Sampras style I would say. At the Frenchman’s serve Zeballos wasn’t even running. Hitting a winner or leave it. During the first set Teixeira was fighting like a lion but couldn’t get on to it. At 1:0 (Teixeira) the young Frenchman called a trainer. He had problems with his right hip. I thought it would be some French trick to confuse the opponent, because before he was running like Speedy Gonzales. Anyways it worked because Zeballos with his head already by his Argentinin maté tea. Break 2:0 for Teixeira. But as I have described it before, Zeballos raised his level a bit, did the break right after and won later easily.

During the last weeks the formof Millot went up and up. Today he played some great tennis and if he wasn’t a mental midget he could have won that match.
The match itself was one of the best matches so far. Very even, nice rallies and variety of shot selection. It was fun to watch both players. Millot very aggressive and Zeballos with some nice touched drop shots. There were break points for Zeballos at 4:4 and break points for Millot at 5:4. Both didn’t convert. But Millot seemed to suffer more mentally and lost the first set in stupid style (UE and DF).

The second set was all Millot’s. He owned Zeballos and was leading 4:1 15:40 (2 break points). He didn’t convert those, because he hit into the net without pressure. He got mad with himself and got broken himself right after. Now it seemed Millot didn’t want to play anymore. He was like a child who thought it would be unfair that he had so many chances and everything under control, but then was going to lose. At 4:4 he didn’t care anymore when he made double faults.

Bolelli-Zeballos Cap Dream Debut

Simone Bolelli and Horacio Zeballos capped a dream debut week together as they won the BMW Open title on Sunday with a 7-6(3), 6-4 victory over Germans Andreas Beck and Christopher Kas in Munich.

The Italian-Argentine pairing won 82 per cent of points on first serve and broke serve twice from five opportunities to claim victory in 90 minutes. They received 250 ATP World Tour ranking points and €22,000 in prize money.

The 25-year-old Bolelli, who reached his first ATP World Tour singles final in Munich (l. to F. Gonzalez) three years ago, was contesting his first career doubles final. Meanwhile the 26-year-old Zeballos captured his second title from three finals.

“I felt great this week with my shots, everything was good,” said Bolelli. ”I played a very good week in doubles with Horacio. It was the first time for us so it’s a very good thing. I think it’s also going to give me confidence for the singles. It’s my first title, I’m very happy.”

Zeballos added, “It feels so good, especially because I’ve never played with Simone Bolelli. We are really happy and maybe we can play another tournament together.”
